For over half a century the Oxford Street Christmas lights have been a much-loved fixture for shoppers and tourists, and an iconic part of the British festive season.  

And the vast array of celebrities who have switched them on is extraordinary, from Madonna to Terry Wogan, the Spice Girls to the cast of Corrie.  

Thousands come to witness the switch on event every year.
